Frequently asked questions
The free Passport, the discounts, and how it all works.
The basics
What is Málaga Dine?
Málaga Dine is a free, multilingual guide to eating out across Málaga province. Many listed restaurants give you an instant discount when you show the free Málaga Dine Passport — with no apps, coupons or codes to download.
Is it really free for diners?
Yes. Málaga Dine is completely free to use. Restaurants pay a small flat listing fee; you never pay anything to browse the guide or to use your Passport.
What is the Málaga Dine Passport?
It's a free digital badge you add to your phone's home screen. It shows a secure, dynamic QR code that a participating restaurant scans at checkout to apply your discount automatically. See an example of the Passport badge →
Do I need to download an app?
No. There's no app store, no account and no password. You simply add the Passport to your home screen from the website and it's ready to use.
Using your Passport
How do I get the Passport?
On the Málaga Dine site, tap “＋ Add Passport to Home Screen”. It saves the badge next to your other apps — instant, with no App Store and no password.
How do I use it at a restaurant?
When the bill arrives, open your Passport and show the QR code to your server. They scan it at checkout and the discount is applied to your bill automatically.
Do I need to book ahead or mention it before ordering?
At most venues, no — just present the Passport when you pay. A few restaurants may have their own conditions, which are noted on their listing.
Does the discount work whether I pay by card or cash?
Yes. The discount is applied at the restaurant's checkout before you pay, so it works however you choose to settle the bill.
Do I need an internet connection?
The Passport shows a secure code that refreshes, so a basic mobile‑data or Wi‑Fi connection is needed to display it for scanning. Most participating venues offer free Wi‑Fi.
Can I use it every time I visit?
Yes — you can use your Passport as often as you like at participating restaurants, subject to each venue's terms.

Does every restaurant offer a discount?
No. Málaga Dine is a full dining guide, so some venues are listed without a discount. The ones that do offer one show it clearly on their card.
How big are the discounts?
It varies by restaurant. Each participating venue sets its own discount, shown on its listing along with any seasonal window.
Can I combine it with set menus or other offers?
That depends on the venue. Some allow it on the menú del día or set menus, others don't — check the restaurant's listing or ask your server.
For visitors
